The instructions for my website—WTC Healing Project--- recommend participants fold cranes following the “Hiroshima school” model, a design that enables the crane to be inflated when turned upside-down and blown into. While there are 11 different ways to fold a crane, this style is the only one that allows breath, and therefore “life”, to be passed on in it.
Occasionally, cranes following different models are sent to the Healing Project. If a bulk of cranes arrive that do not fit the standard criteria, they can provide an occasion for a banner, such as this. Inspired by the fact that schoolchildren often write messages on the wings of their cranes, this banner reflects the phrase most commonly occurring on cranes that have been received by the project: LOVE EACH OTHER.
[These particular cranes came from a school in Austin Texas]
