2005

The folded paper crane is probably the most well known origami design. A group of a thousand cranes is called a Senbazuru in Japanese, and holds a special significance. Many people believe if you make the effort to fold one thousand paper cranes, that you will be blessed with good luck throughout your life. Often, garlands of a thousand cranes will be presented to a couple as a wedding gift, and on appropriate occasions they will be presented to make a wish for world peace. This portrait was edited from a photo-booth snapshot, and has exactly 1000 –3/4”cranes-- on a grid of 25x40 origami.
