I PICTURE YOU IN THE SUN
I PICTURE YOU IN THE SUN
30"x74"
2006

The first in a series of images recalling the beach, this image is composed entirely of black and white cranes---or rather just over 4,000 shades of gray. Where I aim to provide as much information as possible with other mosaics, here I intentionally loosen up my own filters to form images that are more dreamy, and in this case, more feeling than portrait. Because there is so little visual information, the viewer must subjectively fill-in the missing pieces, ultimately setting off a sensory memory trigger that recalls a moment dear to them. This could be any child anywhere at any time, on any beach.
